As Government spending becomes increasingly restricted the science budget is stretched to its capacity. In these difficult economic times how should we spend our limited resources?

This event aims to explore the different aspects of science funding and how we quantify success; is it the aim of science funding to produce new economic value or to inspire the next generation of scientists?

Speakers include:
  • Professor David Delpy, Chief Executive of the EPSRC
  • Professor Athene Donald DBE FRS, Professor of Experimental Physics at University of Cambridge
  • Professor Richard Wiseman, Professor of Public Understanding at University of Hertfordshire
  • Professor David Cardwell, Professor of Superconducting Engineering at University of Cambridge
