Engaging Youth in Peace Building and Development

Speaker: Andrew Russell is the UN Development Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Kosovo.

The United Nations is increasingly engaging in human-centred development. It includes all ages of human. One particular interest is with youth in the developing world, in particular on the identification of innovative ways of building peace, generating employment, and promoting transparent and effective democratic governance. This talk will provide an introduction to the latest thinking and experience of the UN in engaging youth in innovative activities in conflict, post-conflict and in normal state of affairs. With a particular focus on culture, creativity and conviction, Mr. Russell will provide an introduction to the approach, combining an overview presentation on UNDP’s approach to promoting youth engagement, video footage of youth in action, and specific examples of the results from innovative youth engagement activities from Kosovo.
