Dr Jolly Wong is the Chief Technology Officer of the Hong Kong Police (HKP). He oversees the formulation and execution of policies and strategies with regard to information and communications technology. Dr Wong has distinguished himself in the technology profession by receiving the Outstanding Contribution to TETRA Award 2008, for his stewardship of mission-critical, large-scale, complex technology programme to develop the Next Generation of Command, Control and Communications System for HKP. Subsequently, he was appointed Ambassador for Asia by the TETRA and Critical Communications Association in 2010.
Jolly has been an active and passionate Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) volunteer for over two decades. He is former chairman of the IET council, the Far East Region Network and the Hong Kong Local Network. With a deep understanding of the importance of volunteers’ contributions to the IET’s success in establishing and growing a global knowledge network, he strengthens shared values across IET activities and its many constituencies especially young people.
Academically Jolly is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Smart City, Shanghai University and at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He is a member of the Advisory Committee on Innovation and Technology appointed by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to help create, promote and imprint a climate for innovation by coordinating and aligning innovative policy initiatives to social and economic development.
