Matthew Gill has been Policy Director at the British Business Bank since early 2016. He worked in prudential policy at the Financial Services Authority and the Bank of England in the aftermath of the financial crisis, from which position he was seconded to HM Treasury to help establish the British Business Bank. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a PhD in Sociology from the London School of Economics. Matthew has been an interdisciplinary Andrew W. Mellon postdoctoral fellow at Washington University in Saint Louis and is the author of Accountants’ Truth: Knowledge and Ethics in the Financial World (Oxford University Press, 2009).
