He began his career at the UK Research Councils, latterly working as a Programme Manager at the EPSRC working collaboratively to commission research with external research partners. He was appointed as Director of Research Support Services at the University of Warwick in 2008 and moved to his current role in Cambridge in 2014.

The Cambridge Research Office included the University’s Research Strategy and Research Operations teams that provide core administrative support for the research life cycle at the University. He led the University’s submission to REF2021 and has specific responsibilities in a number of policy areas including research evaluation, research integrity, governance and security. He is a regular contributor at research administration professional development training events and conferences and has a particular interest in research administration leadership and research governance. He is a member of the UK Research Integrity Office Advisory Board (UKRIO).
