Chetan Kumar holds a PhD in Geography and has significant professional experience of linking research into use. He has worked with a Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) centre, CIFOR, on an action-research project to promote the use of research to support the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable communities dependent on forests. The project was successful in influencing government and donor agencies in India and Nepal to incorporate findings from this research into their development strategies. He also worked at UNEP-WCMC on developing tools and knowledge products for use by business. He previously led the implementation of natural resource management and rural development projects, while working at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in India. He maintains an active network of research, NGOs, donor agencies and policy makers in South Asia.
