Lecturer, Department of Geography, University of Cambridge

Dr Michael Herzog’s research focuses on the area of atmospheric science and the numerical modelling of dynamic and microphysical processes from local to global scales.

Prior to his current position, Dr Herzog was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Geomar Research Institute Kiel in Germany, before moving to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor as a Post-doc Fellow and later an Assistant Research Scientist.

His current research interests include

  • Development of atmospheric models from local to global scales
  • Modelling of convective clouds and plumes
  • Role of convection in the climate system, understanding of the hydrological cycle in present and future climate
  • Understanding of the role of aerosols in present and future climate, impact of aerosols on dynamic and microphysical processes
