Dr Matias Acosta is a Feodor Lynen Research Fellow in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. He has a Doctoral degree in Materials Science from Technische Universität Darmstadt where he worked in the synthesis and characterization of piezoelectric materials and devices.

He is interested in electronic-ionic transport phenomena in bulk and thin film functional oxides. He’s research focuses on new synthesis mechanisms to produce engineered microstructure as well as functional-property relationships to optimize functional properties. His work spans from basic to applied knowledge with emphasis on energy conversion technologies such as solid oxide fuel cells, micro-solid oxide fuel cells and membranes.
