Conference: Images of Care and Dying, with Profs Jane Maher, Bill Noble & Emma Wilson
Date: 27 April 2017
Time: 15:00 – 19:00
Venue: Seminar rooms SG1/SG2, Alison Richard Building.
The Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH), along with the University of Cambridge’s Departments of Public Health and Primary Care, and Modern and Medieval Languages, has presented a series of five seminars taking place in Cambridge in 2016 and 2017. The events explored the difficult feelings and dilemmas presented by end of life care that are felt in the lived experiences of clinicians through multidisciplinary dialogues. Each seminar explored issues around end of life care through the lens of film, and featured guest speakers bringing together policy and academia.
This conference, the fifth and final event of the series, will feature Professor Jane Maher, Chief Medical Officer at Macmillan Cancer Support, Professor Bill Noble, Medical Director at Marie Curie, and Emma Wilson, Professor of French Literature and the Visual Arts at the University of Cambridge. Using film, and engaging with present and future policy, the event will consider the future direction of palliative and end of life care in a changing society with constrained resources in health and social care.
