Sir Mark Walport, UK Government Chief Scientific Adviser

The Science and Policy of Climate Change

Venue: Peterhouse Cambridge

Date: Thursday 17 October 2013

Time: 5:30pm - 6:45pm + drinks

Only six months into the job of Chief Scientific Adviser, Sir Mark Walport is already getting a reputation for being a powerful operator within government. Don't miss this opportunity to hear his first major statement on the science and policy of climate change - and, we hope, some candid reflections on the role of science in government.

Next week the IPCC publishes its first major assessment of the science of climate change since 2007. Sir Mark will discuss the implications of this eagerly awaited report for policy. He will focus on the different possible policy responses to what is now known about climate change, including the challenges and opportunities for scientific research and technological development.

There will be plenty of time for questions and we are looking forward to a lively evening.
