Location: Cumberland Lodge, Berkshire (UK)

This year’s theme is distributed ledger technologies (DLT), including blockchain. Through the lenses of both computer science and law we will look behind the hype to consider what is feasible in the real world. Questions we will address include: What is blockchain and what are the technologies that underpin it? How do blockchain technologies interact with the law, including evidentiary considerations, treatment of off-chain assets, and specific regulatory requirements? Might Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) play a role in bridging the gap between hype and reality?

The event will start at 16.00 on Tuesday, 12 September 2017 and the afternoon’s proceedings will be followed by drinks and dinner that evening.

On Wednesday, 13 September 2017, we will explore practical scenarios in multi-disciplinary moderated breakout workshops conducted under the Chatham House Rule (non-attribution). The Symposium will end at 16.00 that day.

Please note that this is an invitation-only Symposium. For further information and to register your interest, please email Dimitra Kamarinou at d.kamarinou@qmul.ac.uk
