Dr Anna Markovska is a criminologist with research interests in organised crime, corruption, justice in transition, comparative criminal justice, and democracy in Ukraine. She is a member of the Safe and Inclusive Communities research theme at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), where she has been a faculty member since 2005.

Anna has received two British Academy Small Grants in support of her research. In 2007, she was awarded funding to examine the relationship between drug use and crime among Ukrainian prisoners. A second grant in 2010 enabled her to explore the intersection of migration and crime, through interviews with migrant workers in the UK, Russia, and Ukraine.
