Charlie Edwards is a senior adviser at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. From 2015 to 2024, he served in the British Government in various roles including as Director of Strategy; Head of the Intelligence Analysis Profession and as a senior adviser to two Home Secretaries. As a senior member of the national security community, he contributed to the design and implementation of UK security strategies, and managed relationships with a range of international security partners. Prior to serving in the British Government, Charlie worked for the RAND Corporation and Royal United Services Institute. He began his career at NATO HQ.
