Charlie Edwards joined the Agency in November 2021 from the Cabinet Office, where he was the Professional Head of Intelligence Assessment (and Head of the Intelligence Analysis Profession in Government) and Director Capability for the JIO.

Previously, he was Director of Strategy in the Office for Security and Counter Terrorism, senior policy adviser on national security and international affairs for the Home Secretary. He has also worked in think tanks including the RAND Corporation and RUSI, where he founded the Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies and was responsible for a number of major counter-terrorism programmes in East Africa.
