Dr Clementine Collett is a BRAID Fellow at the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy and Principal Investigator on the project ‘Co-designing responsible technology and policy for the impact of generative AI on the writing and publishing of the novel’ in partnership with the Institute for the Future of Work.

This fellowship aims to develop policy and design recommendations surrounding generative AI and its impact on novel writing and publishing. Key issues such as copyright, licensing, and remuneration are explored. This research uses participatory and co-design methods, collaborating with novelists, publishers, writers societies, unions, policymakers, and tech companies.

Her interest lies in the impact of AI on work. Clementine’s doctorate at the University of Oxford (2020-2024) explored gender bias in AI recruitment technology, investigating how these systems will impact equality in hiring practices. Previously, she worked in consulting and business research. She has authored reports for universities, consultancies, and agencies such as LCFI, UNESCO, IADB, and OECD.
