Head of Sustainable Procurement, University of Cambridge

Cyndi was born in South Africa and has lived in the UK for 21 years. She has joined the University of Cambridge in 2021 from EQUANS, a leading low energy and carbon company, where for over seven years Cyndi performed various senior procurement roles, more recently focusing on driving sustainably responsible procurement activities. Prior to this Cyndi was with the Shaw Trust for 12 years.

As Head of Sustainable Procurement, Cyndi focuses on developing and embedding a sustainable procurement strategy which is aligned with the University’s aims in this area.
With sustainability at the heart of the Strategic Procurement and Purchasing project (SPP), Cyndi is instrumental in implementing this element of the project, enabling the University to extract further environmental, societal and economic impact for every Cambridge pound spent. Educating and assisting with cultural change across the University to ensure sustainability is a priority in all procurement and purchasing decisions is also a main focus for her.
