Senior Research Associate, Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge

Dr Jo Anderson a Chartered Psychologist with a background in clinical neuropsychology and clinical psychology. After completing her PhD in 2004, Jo has balanced her time between academic research and clinical practice working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. She is a mixed-method researcher specialising in developing, evaluating, and implementing complex interventions in community and healthcare settings.

Jo's current research is focused on children and adolescent mental health. She is particularly interested in school mental health, the early identification of mental health difficulties, and the development and evaluation of programmes supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing. She explores the use of new technologies to deliver personalised, adaptive interventions that aim to improve mental health and facilitate access to care.

Jo is currently leading a research programme that aims to co-produce a whole-school approach supporting high attendance through fostering positive school environment, promoting school connectedness, and strengthening student-teacher relationships.
