Postdoctoral Research Associate, Aviation Impact Accelerator, Whittle Laboratory, University of Cambridge
Dr Katharina Tegethoff is a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Aviation Impact Accelerator (AIA) at the Whittle Laboratory, University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on numerical methods for multi-component, multi-phase flows, with a particular emphasis on contrail formation and its role in aviation’s climate impact. She specialises in modelling non-equilibrium phase changes to improve understanding of condensation and ice crystal formation in aircraft exhaust.
Katharina holds a PhD in non-ideal fluid dynamics from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Her doctoral research explored phase transition phenomena, bridging fundamental thermodynamics with applied engineering.
At the AIA, she works at the interface of computational modelling and aviation sustainability, contributing to efforts that translate cutting-edge research into real-world climate solutions.
