Kevin joined the RSPB as Director of Policy and Advocacy in 2024 and manages teams seeking to achieve better policy outcomes for nature and climate both at international and UK level. Before joining the RSPB Kevin worked at the Environment Agency in England for 7 years with a remit covering agriculture, fisheries and biodiversity with oversight of a broad range of issues ranging from development of new regulatory regimes, advising on the design of new English farming and nature schemes and environmental assessments and mitigation of major infrastructure, including new nuclear. Previously Kevin had over a decade of experience as a civil servant in Welsh Government including as Assistant Director with responsibilities for rural development including agri-environment and forestry schemes and the transposition of EU Directives into Welsh law. He has also spent time in Zambia supporting local NGOs, producer groups and smallholders in developing a national sustainable farming strategy and undertaking an entomological research sabbatical in the Republic of Cyprus working in conjunction with multiple natural history museums across Europe. Kevin originally graduated as a botanist and also has a PhD in urban ecology from the University of Birmingham
