A Liberal Democrat county councillor, Kilian Bourke chairs the Health committee on Cambridgeshire County Council, which was created to enable the council to adapt to the transfer of public health to local government. He has recently been focussing on mental health services in Cambridgeshire, and has closely scrutinised the way in which NHS services are commissioned following the Health and Social Care Act, with a particular focus on Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group's integrated care service for over-65s. He successfully changed the Liberal Democrats' policy on NHS commissioning in Glasgow this year.
