Liza's PhD research is funded by the Wellcome Trust. She explores the role of infectious disease modelling in international outbreak response. She is interested in how mathematical modelling is used by governments, health organisations and other decision-makers during a health crisis, and whether the process can be improved.

Before starting her PhD at the University of Cambridge, Liza completed her Undergraduate Masters in Mathematics at the University of Oxford (2014-2018), and then worked as a Research Assistant at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2019). At LSHTM, she worked in vaccine epidemiology with Prof. Mark Jit and Prof. Kaja Abbas, evaluating the impact and cost of one-dose vs two-dose HPV vaccination campaigns.
