Maria O’Beirne is a senior analyst in the Local Policy Analysis division in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (formerly DCLG), providing support for policy areas on cohesion and integration, communities policies, and the evaluation of neighbourhood level interventions. Maria has worked as a social researcher in government for over 18 years working at the Home Office, Health and Safety Executive and the Department for Work and Pensions and currently in the Ministry for Communities and Local Government.
Prior to joining the Civil Service, Maria worked in Royal Holloway University of London as a researcher within the ESRC Violence Research Programme where she studied for her PhD. Maria’s early career was as a freelance researcher in Ireland working for government and third sector organisations on deprivation and youth employment issues.
