Professor Caccamo is the CEO and Director of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB). He has a background in computer science and over 20 years’ experience in life science research and big data. He has led on projects related to DNA sequencing technology and bioinformatics and their application to the field of agriculture, with a particular focus on wheat crops. NIAB is also developing research programmes focused on deploying large language models for agronomy and environmental data. Mario previously served as Director of The Genome Analysis Centre (now known as The Earlham Institute).
