Lecturer in Nanomanufacturing and Engineering Design, Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge
Dr Michaël De Volder is a Lecturer in the Institute for Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge. He lectures on nanomanufacturing and engineering design, and his research interests focus on nanotechnology (carbon nanotubes, graphene, nanomanufacturing).
Michaël obtained his Bachelor and Masters degree in engineering from the University of Leuven. He subsequently undertook his PhD studies at the same university, and in part at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He then worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Michigan, Harvard University, and the University of Leuven. He also worked for several years at Imec, an industry funded microelectronics research institute, before joining the Institute for Manufacturing here at Cambridge. He is a recipient of an ERC starting grant, and is a Fellow of St John’s College (starting October 2013).
