BBSRC-Funded CSaP Policy Intern (April 2013 - July 2013)
Richard joined CSaP for his three-month internship at the end of April 2013. He spent his time at CSaP working to improve the feedback systems used in the Policy Fellowship programme, as well as analysing the unstructured data generated by Policy Fellow interactions.
Richard has a BSc (Hons) in Physics & Computer Science from Durham University, an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, and an MRes in Systems Biology from Newcastle University. He is currently a PhD student at Newcastle, where he investigates theoretical models of electrical activity in healthy and epileptic brain tissue. Such models can help explain experimental results and guide future work, potentially leading to more effective treatments for epilepsy in the future.
