World Health Organization Liaison, MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis, Imperial College London

Ruth McCabe is the World Health Organization (WHO) Liaison Fellow at the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis (MRC GIDA) at Imperial College London. Ruth is passionate about the use of modelling and analytics to inform public health policy during epidemics. As a WHO collaborating centre (CC), MRC GIDA supports the WHO in providing modelling and analytical support both during emergencies and for endemic viruses. Ruth leads the daily operations of the CC, ensuring strategic coordination, research delivery, and engagement with global public health partners. She conducts research with WHO on MERS-CoV and mpox to guide public health responses.

Ruth has worked as a statistician for the Infected Blood Inquiry (2022) and as a mathematical modeller for the COVID-19 response at the UK Health Security Agency (2022), in addition as a statistical epidemiologist at the WHO (2023).
