Salma Shah is the Director of Kraken Strategy Ltd. Previously, she was a Partner and Senior Adviser at Portland, the communications and public affairs company.

Salma served as a Special Adviser to the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, from 2018 to 2019, overseeing strategy and communications throughout the Home Office. Additionally, she has held positions within several UK government departments, such as the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), and the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) since 2014.

Salma previously worked as a journalist at the BBC, where she produced shows like Today on Radio 4. Alongside her political positions, Salma has remained involved in the media industry by contributing as a columnist for The Independent and providing commentary on various platforms including BBC, Channel 4, and ITV.
