Tess Lanning is Head of Enterprise and Employment Strategy in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, where she oversees the Council's approach to Social Value and work to create more good jobs for local people, including sector strategies in food, film, construction, care and the green economy. Previously Tess was Director of the Living Wage Foundation, and prior to that led the Foundation's work to develop new tools, evidence and strategies to improve job quality in low wage industries. Between 2013 and 2015 she worked as adviser to the Leader of the Opposition on business, skills and labour market policy. Tess has also conducted research, analysis and policy development for a number of think tanks, professional bodies and charities. She is on the board of the flexible working consultancy Timewise, and a trustee of Locality, the membership body for local community organisations.
