Dr Tim Brown is a Senior Research Associate in Housing and Local Government in the Department of Politics and Public Policy and an Independent Consultant. He was formerly Director of the Centre for Comparative Housing Research at De Montfort University.
Tim is involved in consultancy and research for a wide range of organisations including the Department for Communities and Local Government, the National Housing Federation, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and a large number of local authorities and housing associations. Recent projects have included research on institutional investment in the private rented sector, the use of local delivery vehicles for regeneration and boosting affordable housing supply using conditional tax incentives.
He is currently undertaking projects on (i) evaluating Melton Borough Council's initiative on tackling worklessness and welfare reform and (ii) housing and older people (for the Department for Communities and Local Government).
