This Cambridge Zero Policy Forum lunchtime seminar with Professor Tim Benton, Director of the Environment and Society Centre at Chatham House, focused on the challenges and opportunities facing the global food system in the context of the climate and biodiversity crises.

In February 2024, Dr Jolyon Medlock, Head of Medical Entomology at the UK Health Security Agency, met with the Cambridge Zero Policy Forum to discuss ecological and environmental drivers of vector borne disease.

The roundtable on geopolitics of climate impacts and their implications for the UK’s foreign policies was hosted by Emily Shuckburgh, Director of Cambridge Zero, and Peter Hill, former Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister and CEO of COP26.

On 23 March, Cambridge Zero Darwin College David MacKay Research Associate Dr. Jinying Xu organised a Cambridge Festival event at the Department of Engineering as part of the family weekend.

Members of the Sustainability Taskforce at the Competition and Markets Authority - including their Director, David Middlemiss - met with the Cambridge Zero Policy Forum to discuss current and future issues in UK markets relevant to the taskforce’s work in facilitating the UK’s net zero transition.

Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta spoke to the Cambridge University Science and Policy Exchange about 'The Economics of Biodiversity: The Dasgupta Review', published by the UK Treasury in 2021.

Members of CSaP’s Horn Fellowship met in Cambridge last month to discuss topics including psychology, psychiatry, and the economics of early-child interventions; the latest in technological developments to assist in meeting the UK’s Net Zero goal; and the history of the Black Sea.

In September 2023 the Cambridge Zero Policy forum met with Zoe Guijarro, Principal Policy Manager, Net Zero Homes, at Citizens Advice to discuss the transition to net zero homes, with a focus on the role of Citizens Advice.

In July 2023, Pippa Heylings, Liberal Democrat Candidate for South Cambridgeshire, and Sheryl French, Assistant Director, Climate Change and Energy Services, Cambridgeshire County Council, addressed the Cambridge Zero Policy Forum to discuss the role that Locally Determined Contributions can play in tackling climate change.

CSaP partnered with the Natural History Museum (NHM) in July to hold a unique event bringing together Policy Fellows working in climate and sustainability to discuss the challenges of tackling the biodiversity crisis.
