The SPS Society exists to bring together people interested in the social and political sciences for socialising and discussion. Primarily we are a social society. We organise regular social events including formals, parties and get-togethers. To put it another way, “we put the social back in Social and Political Sciences”.

But the society is also a forum for serious discussion and debate. Since its inception in 2004, the society has invited prominent academics to meet and speak to students. Past speakers have included Raymond Geuss, Gareth Stedman Jones and Anthony Giddens, founder of the hugely influential ‘Third Way’. An on-line archive of our past events is on its way.
