Abdulwahab is a PhD student supervised by Dr Søren Brage. His current research interests include physical activity epidemiology and population health surveillance strategies. For his Ph.D., he is exploring associations of physical activity behavior and fitness with cardiometabolic risk in different ethnic populations. His project uses an array of global datasets including WHO STEP survey, South Asia Biobank, and Qatar Biobank data.

Abdulwahab’s studentship is funded by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences in collaboration with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Abdulwahab holds a Master’s degree in Biology from New York University.During his studies, Abdulwahab developed a keen interest in the upstream determinants of obesity and related health behaviors. His MSc thesis focused on the evolution of carbohydrate metabolism in humans. He completed his undergraduate education in Molecular Biology and Psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Abdulwahab undertook formative training in epidemiology through a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Population Health Sciences at the University of Cambridge. His MPhil thesis focused on adolescent physical activity patterns and their relation to mental well-being.

Prior to starting his Ph.D. at the Unit, Abdulwahab worked on an array of projects related to the characterization of physical activity patterns within the Physical Activity Epidemiology programme.
