Ashan Asmone is a Research Associate at the Laing O’Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology, University of Cambridge conducting pioneering research in project management and data-centric construction. He has contributed to setting and updating building sector standards and policy in Singapore on building maintainability and construction safety. With extensive industry collaborations and expertise in data-driven decision making, Ashan's work aspires to bridge the gap between project planning and on-site execution, driving sustainable and efficient infrastructure outcomes. Ashan is committed to advancing project governance through digital transformation, offering a research-informed perspective to drive impactful changes in the built environment.
Ashan holds a PhD in building from the National University of Singapore. Prior to that, he has a master’s in environment management from the University of Colombo, and a bachelor’s honours degree in facilities management from the University of Moratuwa. He has over ten years’ experience in the built environment sector in various stages of construction project delivery and is a co-author of the book Design for Maintainability: Benchmarks for Quality Buildings.
