Dr Camilla Nord leads the Mental Health Neuroscience Lab at the University of Cambridge, and holds dual positions as Group Leader at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit and Assistant Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at the Department of Psychiatry

Dr Nord’s lab’s work spans from fundamental neuroscience – with a particular focus on discovering body-brain interactions driving poor mental health – to applied translational science, including experimental medicine studies and trials of novel treatments. She has been awarded over £14m in grant funding, and is the recipient of the European Society of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Young Scientist Award, and was named a Rising Star by the Association of Psychological Science.

Her work has been featured in the Sunday Times, the Independent, and the New Statesman, and she has appeared on BBC Radio Four’s The Naked Scientist, Sky News, and BBC Radio Five. Her first book, The Balanced Brain: The Science of Mental Health, was published by Penguin in September 2023.
