Lead Marine Scientist, UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre
Chris Mcowen is Lead Marine Scientist at the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre. His work focuses on the analysis of coastal and marine biodiversity, and environmental and socio-economic datasets. His recent projects include NEREUS, which provides guidance on sustainable fishing, and "The Global Environment Facility, Blue Forests", which helps decision makers integrate blue carbon in to climate change mitigation strategies.
Chris holds a PhD from St Andrews University, and originally joined the Centre as a post-doctoral scientist. He is also a PhD and postdoctoral supervisor, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge.
