Professor Claudio Piga is Professor of Economics at the Management School of the Keele University. Previously, he held positions at Loughborough, Nottingham and Hull University (UK), as well as the University of Sassari (Italy), and was invited as Visiting Professor by both the Economics Departments of the Texas A&M University and the LUISS University (Rome) . Claudio's qualifications include a DPhil in Economics (University of York, UK), a Doctorate in Economics (University of Rome Tor Vergata) and an MSc in Economics (University of Turin). His research interests cover a number of areas in applied microeconomics: pricing, with a particular focus on the airline and the travel and tourism industry; policy evaluation and relevant econometric techniques; the economics of innovation and total factor productivity.

He has just completed a Research Report commissioned by the UK Business Innovation and Skills Department, on the effect of training and R&D investment on the productivity of British firms. The copy of the report can be found here. Claudio has also managed many research projects funded by such British Research Organizations as the Leverhulme Trust and the British Academy.
