Dr Filip Mandys is a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge and a Senior Researcher at the Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs (RILSA). At Cambridge, Filip’s research focuses on the impact of digitalisation on productivity across countries and sectors. At RILSA, his research spans energy and labour economics, as well as macroeconomic analysis of the Czech labour market, in collaboration with the Czech Ministry of Labour. He helped prepare a full social benefits reform for the Czech Republic, with the law scheduled to be implemented in October 2025.

Previously, Filip was a Research Consultant in the Research and Market Analysis division of the European Investment Fund in Luxembourg, focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In particular, these included private equity, venture capital, angel investment, and green finance, with attention to ESG issues and the implications of current geopolitical and energy developments.

Filip holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Surrey, where his thesis examined consumer demand and pricing for clean and conventional vehicles in the UK. He also holds an MSc in International Economics, Finance and Development, and a BSc in Economics and Finance, both from the University of Surrey.

His recent work, “Is Digitalisation Boosting the Decarbonisation of Industries?”, received the 2024 Rybczynski Prize, awarded by the Society of Professional Economists.
