Professor of Psychology, University of York
Harriet Over’s research investigates the origins of prejudice and discrimination in development. In her most recent work, she is exploring how engagement with online misogyny is affecting the behaviour and experiences of young people. Harriet and her team are developing research-led interventions to help young people think critically about toxic content they encounter online.
Harriet completed her PhD at Cardiff University and her postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. She has published close to 100 journal articles on developmental and social psychology. Her research has been funded by the European Research Council, The Economic and Social Research Council, Smart Data Research UK and the Leverhulme Trust.
