Research Staff Scientist: Centre for Misfolding Diseases; Head of Research: Wren Therapeutics Ltd; Borysiewicz Biomedical Science Fellow

Johnny holds a PhD in protein science and he is currently a Research Scientist at the Centre for misfolding diseases, Head of Research at Wren Therapeutics Ltd, both located within the Chemistry of Health building, and Borysiewicz Biomedical Sciences Fellow.

During his 10 years as a researcher, he has authored more than 35 publications in top-tier journals, including Nature Chemistry and Chemical Reviews, with ~ 1k citations, and he has built a strong expertise in research design, team management and science communication. In the past years, his research has led to setting up an interdisciplinary research programme that has been translated into a drug discovery platform against Alzheimer’s disease and has been acknowledged on several occasions in the news, including in BBC. As a result of his contribution to the field, Johnny has been invited to several conferences and workshops as a speaker and chairperson.

Johnny has a deep interest in translating foundational research in the field of global health challenges into efficacious interventions to promote health and prevent diseases that have significant impact on societies.

Johnny is currently a Borysiewicz Biomedical Sciences Fellow, where he is working with the Centre for Global Equality and Cambridge Global Challenges in order to take part in the global efforts following the UN 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
