Jonathan Cave is a Senior Tutor in Economics at the University of Warwick, and a former senior research fellow at RAND Europe. He is frequently involved in analysing European Union (EU) regulatory policy and its impact upon a range of issues from healthcare to new communication technologies. Cave has worked on network evolution (helping draft the Declaration of Limelette); governance and security; the governance of the Information Society; patent, copyright, and trademark issues (including economic and regulatory issues related to naming, knowledge exchange, software patenting, and trade over the Internet); information security and assurance; cybertrust; and the economic, sociopolitical, and environmental sustainability of the global networked knowledge society.

Jonathan is a founding member of the Brussels-EU Chapter of the Club of Rome. Prior to joining RAND Europe, he held positions at the Bank of England; the U.S. Federal Trade Commission; and the universities of California, Illinois, and Warwick. Cave earned his B.Sc. in chemistry and economics from Yale University; his M.A. in economics from the University of Cambridge; and his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.
