Visiting Associate, Centre for Science and Policy

After completing an MA and PhD at King's College London with full British Chevening and Marie Curie Fellowships, Dr Valeri joined RAND Europe undertaking public policies projects for several government departments in the UK, Netherlands and the United States, European Commission and other EU agencies, as well as British Telecom, Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft. He also worked as a policy analyst at the Working Group on Information Security and Privacy at the OECD and a manager at Accenture.

Since 2010 he has been the scientific manager of the School of Government of Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (LUISS), Italy's top university in social sciences, law and economics. The School of Government has rapidly established itself as a key pivotal actor in Italy's public policy debates, in part because LUISS has strong statutory links with CONFINDUSTRIA (Italy's version of the UK Confederation of British Industries).

His research experience involves primarily the socio-economic and public policy implication of the growing pervasiveness of ICT, and international cooperation and development in university management and research. He applies his combined management and research skills to his daily job where he supports the large academic community of the LUISS School of Government in their teaching and research activities.

Dr Valeri's objectives as a Visiting Associate at CSaP are to interact directly with leading academics and international practitioners to discuss innovative methodologies for managing the interaction between science, policy and society, with a specific focus in the field of risk and uncertainty. He will apply this new knowledge and experience directly to his role at LUISS by devising new and advanced educational activities. He also looks forward to exploring areas of cooperation with Cambridge Public Policy and the MPP team in terms of advanced courses in science management and policies.
