Dr Patrick McSharry is Head of Forecasting and Risk Analysis at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford. He is also a Visiting Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests include big data, analysis of human behaviour, and machine learning.

In 2015 Patrick's book "Big Data Revolution", co-authored with Rob Thomas, was published by Wiley. He has also had papers published in a variety of academic journals including the International Journal of Forecasting, and Journal of the Royal Society Interface.

Patrick received a BA in Theoretical Physics and an MSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Trinity College Dublin and received a DPhil in Mathematics from the University of Oxford. He is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
