Rachel is a Deputy Director in the Department for Education, though is currently on loan to the Cabinet Office - where she heads up the Public Services Team in the Economic and Domestic Affairs Secretariat, supporting the Cabinet on issues covering education, health and local government. Prior to this, she has held several roles within the Department for Education over a period 8 years – working on teacher recruitment, disadvantage funding, sponsoring the what works centre for education and reforms to curriculum and qualifications for 16-19 year-olds. Her particular interest is in policy that supports disadvantaged children and young people, which originates from some of her first roles in the civil service, including working in Private Office covering mental health and learning disabilities, managing a JobCentre and a secondment to a criminal justice start up working with young people.
