Riccardo is currently a 2nd Year BBSRC funded PhD student at Imperial College London, whose project is a collaboration between the Airways Diseases group at the National Heart and Lung Institute and the Photonics Group in the department of Physics.

Riccardo’s research involves using advanced super-resolved microscopy techniques to investigate disease phenotype in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Specifically looking at the role of the cytoskeleton and receptor involvement in pathogen clearance from the lungs, with the view to better understanding why some macrophages fail to phagocytose in COPD.

Riccardo holds a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from Queen Mary University of London, an MSc in Molecular Medicine and an MRes in Biomedical Research - Respiratory and Cardiovascular Science, both from Imperial College London.
