Ricky Taylor is currently a Senior Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and is a member of both the Government Economic Service and the Government Social Research Service. He has extensive experience of working in a variety of policy and analytical roles across a number of Government Departments, including the Home Office, the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit, and HM Treasury where he co-authored the Magenta Book, a guide to policy evaluation in government.
He was previously Head of Research for the National Housing and Planning Advice Unit (NHPAU) where he authored Buy-to-let mortgage lending and the impact on UK house prices and was co-author of Affordability Matters which considered the levels of housing supply needed to improve the affordability of housing in England.
In his current role Ricky leads a multidisciplinary team of analysts covering a variety of topics including the evaluation the Troubled Families programme, which is one of the first policy evaluations to use linked administrative data to track the progress of families.
