Stephanie Peacock entered Parliament at the 2017 general election when she won Barnsley East. She was re-elected in 2024, as MP for the constituency of Barnsley South, created in the 2023 boundary review.

She was appointed Shadow Minister for Sport, Gambling and Media in 2023, having previously been Shadow Minister for Media, Data and Digital Infrastructure, Shadow Minister for Veterans, and an EFRA spokesperson.

Between 2013 and 2017, she worked as a Political Officer for the GMB trade union. Prior to her appointment to the GMB, she worked as a trade union education officer providing training and skills to activists across Northern England.

Born in 1987, she studied Trade Union and Labour History at university before becoming a history teacher. Having been an active member of the Labour Party all her adult life, she worked for Black Country MP Sylvia Heal, was a member of Labour's governing body, the NEC, and was one of the West Midlands' representatives on the National Policy Forum.
