Programme Manager, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Thomas Vergunst joined CISL’s Executive Education team in April 2017. Over recent years his work has focused on the sustainable use of resources with a particular emphasis on the policy measures and business strategies that can be used to encourage a shift towards a more circular economy.

Since completing his MSc in Soil Science in 2006 Thomas has been involved in various aspects of the environmental sector. He has spent time working for a multinational environmental consultancy in the area of land contamination and has also worked as a researcher for the London based charity Waste Watch (now part of Keep Britain Tidy). Prior to joining CISL Thomas worked for Eunomia Research & Consulting where he focused on, among other things, UK and European waste and resource policy and promoting the sustainable use of resources within a circular economy. In this role he managed numerous projects for private and public sector clients, including Eunomia’s strategic work which underpinned the impact assessment that accompanied the European Commission’s circular economy package.
