Senior Lecturer, Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy, University of Cambridge

Dr Vasant Kumar is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. He is a member of the Materials Chemistry Research Group, looking into innovative approaches to develop the next generation of ultra-high-energy and power-density batteries based on novel Li chemistries, new electrolytes and specially engineered electrodes.

He is also conducting research into solid-state ionic sensors and smart sensors that can self-actuate and self-tune, as well as new strategies for recycling lead-acid batteries. Dr Kumar has a BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and a PhD from McMaster University.
