Deputy Chair, Cambridge Conservation Forum
I am a research associate in the Forest Ecology and Conservation Group of the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge. Here I study Mediterranean forest systems, combining field data collection with remote sensing to look at the relationships between environmental change, forest biodiversity, structure and biomass. A particular focus has been the application of airborne lidar to model the three-dimensional structure of vegetation canopies. I lead a Cambridge Conservation Initiative collaborative project on Portuguese wood pasture systems and their biodiversity, including the threatened Iberian Lynx. I have previously worked in nature conservation for English Nature, and the CCF member A Rocha based in Portugal.
