This Cambridge Zero Policy forum seminar explored the second Green Finance Strategy published on 30 March 2023, with Ben Fagan-Watson, Head of the Green Finance Team, Net Zero Strategy Directorate.

Drawing on his experience as a diplomat, policy maker and a user of science and economics, Simon Sharpe outlined his vision for the major institutional and ideological changes needed to reach net zero global emissions by 2030.

In February 2023, the Rt Hon Chris Skidmore MP met with the Cambridge Zero Policy Forum at Hughes Hall to discuss the opportunities offered by the acceleration of net zero. Cross-disciplinary academics from across the University came together for a roundtable conversation covering net zero policy recommendations, opportunities for climate leadership, and how to move these priorities forward.

The Cambridge Zero Policy Forum convened a roundtable discussion in November 2022 with a panel of academics and members of Cambridgeshire County Council to explore questions posed by stakeholders on changing organisational behaviours, particularly in the context of net zero.

After a morning of individually tailored meetings with Cambridge academics, senior members of CSaP’s network convened for a talk by Julian Allwood, Professor of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Cambridge, presented around the theme of the day: “innovation in materials”.

In January 2023, members of the Cambridge Zero Policy Forum met with Matthew Bell, a Director at Frontier Economics and former Chief Executive of the UK Climate Change Committee, to discuss the role of evidence in informing policy on climate change and sustainability.

The final seminar in this series focused on the roles that land use, biodiversity and food play in climate change mitigation.

The second seminar in this series looked at how global markets are reacting to the challenges faced by climate change.

Lord Deben (John Gummer), Chairman of the UK's Climate Change Committee and Professor Emily Shuckburgh, Director, Cambridge Zero, University of Cambridge, kicked off the first seminar of the 2023 Christ's College Climate Seminar Series on 19 January 2023 at the Yusuf Hamied Theatre, Christ's College Cambridge.

In November 2022, members of the Cambridge Zero Policy Forum gathered at Darwin College, Cambridge to discuss the outcomes of COP27. Several members of the Forum attended the COP in person, which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. Others chose to attend online, and some closely followed reports in their specialist areas.
